Collaboration with Dream Nepal 2025

Dream Nepal is a non-governmental development organisation (NGDO) established in late 2015 with the aim of creating and maintaining several homes in Kathmandu, Nepal. These homes provide shelter, food, medical care, schooling, and psychosocial support to children who are in prison with their mothers due to the lack of anyone to care for them while their mothers serve their sentences. This initiative is known as the MalaHome Project. At the mothers’ request, Dream Nepal rescues these children from the hostile and precarious environment of prison life, offering them an opportunity to grow up in conditions equal to those living in freedom, thereby enabling them to secure a better future.

Between 2016 and December 2024, Dream Nepal has opened three care homes, currently housing fifty-two children aged between five and seventeen. Since 2019, a flat has also been available for young women who, upon turning eighteen, leave the MalaHome Project and transition to the Youth Project. This flat, supervised by Dream Nepal, is self-managed by the young women, who, through their studies and small complementary jobs, prepare to enter the job market. Ultimately, they achieve social and economic independence. In 2024, some of these young women completed their studies and left the project, well-equipped to embark on independent lives, both professionally and socially. They were succeeded in the project by three new young women who recently came of age.

Dream Nepal directly employs twenty local staff members who oversee the management of the homes and implement programmes related to health, nutrition, education, and psychosocial care. Moreover, Dream Nepal’s projects significantly impact the local socio-economic fabric, as all food, schooling, and resources are sourced from local businesses and professionals.

The donation made by Invest for children in 2024 was used to cover the food expenses for 18 children in one of the care homes and in 2025 we continue collaborating with this project.
