At Invest for children, we believe in the power of sport as a tool for inclusion, personal development and equal opportunities. That is why we continue to support Fundació Tennis Barcelona and its “Tennis with Values” programme, an initiative that uses tennis to improve the lives of children and young people experiencing social vulnerability.
The Foundation was established to strengthen the charitable work linked to the Real Club de Tennis Barcelona and is dedicated to promoting social inclusion and improving the physical and emotional wellbeing of people at risk of social exclusion through tennis and padel.
Through its Solidarity Tennis School, organised around the Tennis with Values and Play All programmes, it offers weekly sporting activities combined with educational support and healthy lifestyle habits. Today, more than 500 children and young people aged between 6 and 17 take part in its initiatives. One hundred per cent of beneficiaries are at risk of social exclusion and are referred through partner social organisations.
In addition, more than 10% of participants have specific educational support needs or functional diversity, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Since the programme began, the Foundation has delivered more than 1,000 hours of activity, supported young people from over 29 nationalities, distributed more than 4,200 healthy snacks, collected more than 350 tennis racquets, and brought its activities to 14 neighbourhoods across the Barcelona metropolitan area.
Alongside these activities, the Foundation runs a scholarship programme that helps young people supported by social organisations access sports-related education and training. Through a partnership with the Catalan Tennis Federation, scholarship recipients are also given opportunities to enter the sports employment sector.
The work of Fundació Tennis Barcelona demonstrates how sport can transform lives, create real opportunities and promote values such as perseverance, teamwork, solidarity and self-improvement. Through this collaboration, Invest for children continues to support projects that generate a lasting and meaningful social impact on the lives of hundreds of children and young people.
