The Sant Joan de Déu Hospital Order provides comprehensive care for people in vulnerable situations, helping to create a fairer society. Sant Joan de Déu is the Spanish centre with the highest volume of cases reported to the National Tumour Registry. This institution has begun a major project that Invest for children supports, the creation of the Pediatric Cancer Center, which began to be built in 2018, will be at the forefront in Europe.
The objectives of the Pediatric Cancer Center are:
To further increase the capacity to cure childhood cancer.
To achieve effective treatments for currently incurable cancers.
To reduce the side effects of surviving children.
To offer comprehensive and personalised care.
To create an open centre that does not discriminate on economic grounds.
The Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona has 5,137 square metres and is designed to treat 400 new patients each year. It will have more than 40 rooms (radiopharmacy, non-assistance spaces), 8 TPH chambers (radiotherapy), 40 Boxes, Day Hospital (laboratory) and 20 external consultations (Teaching).
